Your Senior Years, Your Way:
Planning a Life That Reflects
You
Change brings new
opportunities to grow, explore, and live with
purpose. Your senior years can be a time of joy,
creativity, and connection, shaped by your choices
and what matters most to you. At Optima Living, we
see aging as a celebration of experience and
possibility. A chance to create a life that feels
vibrant, fulfilling, and truly your own.

September 30 was National
Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
At Optima Living, we pause
to reflect, honour, and reaffirm our commitment to
truth, justice, and reconciliation with Indigenous
peoples across the lands now known as British
Columbia and Alberta.
Our communities stand on the
traditional territories of diverse Indigenous
Nations and Peoples. We recognize, respect, and
honour their history.
Reconciliation is not a
moment, but a movement—one we carry forward
together.
Celebrating Healthcare Aide Day
This Healthcare Aide Day, we
celebrate the incredible caregivers who bring
compassion, comfort, and joy to every moment of
care.
For Healthcare Aide Nanou
Suamy, those moments of connection are what matter
most: “Even when their memory fades, they still
remember me. They look at my face and smile — it
feels like a prize.”
From gentle smiles to
meaningful connections, our Healthcare Aides make a
difference in the lives of our residents each and
every day. Thank you for all that you do.
Revolutionizing Senior Care:
Optima
Living and the University of Alberta Spark a
Transformative Partnership
We’re excited to share this
meaningful partnership between the University of
Alberta’s Division of Geriatric Medicine and Optima
Living! Led by Dr. Adrian Wagg, our four years of
collaboration have been dedicated to advancing
dementia care, knowledge sharing, and healthy aging
in Canada. Together, Optima Living and the
University of Alberta are translating research into
practice, improving quality of life for residents,
and shaping the next generation of senior care in
Canada.
Here’s to continued
innovation, compassion, and partnership in
redefining what it means to age well.
Community improves every
aspect of life, including your health!
Did you know that being
surrounded by a great community has a wide range of
benefits for your physical health? In fact, research
has indicated that people who belong to strong
communities tend to have lower blood pressure, lower
cholesterol levels, and a lower risk of obesity.
They are also more likely to exercise regularly and
eat a healthy diet!
We recently held an engaging
seminar led by Allison Schindler, Optima Living’s
Regional Director of Memory Care, Lifestyles, and
Programs, at Aspen Ridge. This seminar explained how
the innovative Spark Memory Living program supports
residents living with memory loss and included
learning about brain health as we age. Guests heard
real stories of our residents, and also participated
in a Q&A session after the event. Thank you to
those who attended!
